Diabetes is a major health concern in the United States. Many American adults have diabetes or are at risk for getting it. You probably know or care for someone who has diabetes or are at risk of getting it. Diabetes is a chronic illness that can be challenging and life-changing. The impact of diabetes in Washington is extensive and expensive. Some demographics have a higher burden of diabetes. Older adults are more likely than younger adults to have diabetes with co-existing conditions. Understanding how the disease works, the signs and risk factors will help you support the individual with these challenges and changes. This course requires a Student Handbook.
